Werewolves are coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Phase 4, but Moon Knight could be the place they are introduced. Marvel Studios is expanding the MCU in Phase 4 by growing beyond the traditional confines of the Avengers. Stories on Earth, in space, and in other universes are all being told now, which means there are plenty of opportunities to grow the MCU. Moon Knight is a prime example of this plan, as it introduces a brand new hero to the universe and explores a brand new corner of the MCU filled with Egyptian mythology and supernatural elements.
While Moon Knight is expected to mostly stand on its own as Oscar Isaac's superhero origin story is told, the series should also play a part in setting up the MCU's future. Many are hoping this is specifically true for the supernatural corner of Marvel, as Moon Knight could be set up to join the Midnight Sons. There are also theories about what types of supernatural characters could appear in Moon Knight if this is true. Speculation has mounted about Mahershala Ali's Blade or Eternals' Black Knight making appearances. On top of known characters, the show will also be an opportunity to introduce new ones, whether that means Ethan Hawke's Arthur Harrow, the Egyptian moon god Khonshu, or even werewolves.
The theory that Moon Knight introduces werewolves to the MCU is one that has been around for a while. Many believe Marvel has already provided a glimpse at Moon Knight fighting these supernatural creatures too. Some early footage from the series showed Moon Knight punching a being with wolf-like features, prompting speculation. While this creature being a werewolf is neither confirmed nor denied, there is also a section of fans who believe Moon Knight is fighting the Egyptian god Anubis in the scene in question. Anubis is the Egyptian god of death who has a jackal-shaped head. Even if this beast is Anubis, the Moon Knight werewolf theories could still make sense.
Marvel fans have long suspected that Moon Knight and werewolves will cross paths during Phase 4. This is due to the comic history of Moon Knight making his debut in the pages of Werewolf by Night #32. Since Moon Knight is making his MCU debut first, there has been a suggestion that Marvel Studios could reverse the comics connection and have werewolves debut in Moon Knight instead. The Egyptian god Khonshu could even play a role in creating them due to the connection werewolf transformations have to the moon. This would also make sense since Marvel Studios is reportedly developing a Halloween special for Disney+ that involves Werewolf by Night and other supernatural characters.
Werewolves appearing in Moon Knight wouldn't be completely out of the blue either. Marvel is ramping up their supernatural content ahead of Blade, and WandaVision laid the foundation for werewolves by including the Darkhold. The dark magic book was used for Scarlet Witch's chaos magic explanation in WandaVision, but the comics made the Darkhold partially responsible for the origin of werewolves. It's unlikely the book appears in Moon Knight since it is tied up with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, werewolves could still appear and have mentions of the Darkhold before the Halloween special properly explores their origins. In any case, Moon Knight introducing werewolves to the MCU very well could happen.
